KNS Digital Archive Day 6

November 14, 2008

Lucy and I went over how to transition from a Word document fomatted finding aid  and scans of items to the DigiTool interface : it goes to a systems librarian or the head of technical services (resident EAD expert here at KSC)! In order for this all to flow the information we create needs to be formatted to standards for archival description and the institutional standards for metadata.  In this case, naming conventions and formatting for finding aids has been established by staff at the Mason Library for use at Keene State.

KNS Digital Archive Day 5

November 7, 2008

Today I studied Kathleen Roe’s book, Arrangement and Description of Archives and Manuscripts to work on the begining of the finding aid for the KNS collection. We looked at what parts of the finding aid structure will be useful to our process, like history and record number. Lucy and I also looked at the metadata format she is using for other collections at Keene State and what mine will look like.

November 3, 2008

Today I had access with the computer that has Homesite on it again for working with the HTML content part of our project. I spent the morning proofing the code and working on some formatting issues, still left the pending documents that we hope to find originals for.
