Blog scope
History:
This journal has gone through a number of uses since its establishment in 2007. During my senior year at UMass Amherst where I studied Communication and Psychology, this blog served as a project journal for my two internships.
First with SCUA at the W. E. B. Du Bois Library UMass Amherst (Fall 2007 through Spring 2008) working to evaluate a processed manuscript collection for web exhibition. These entries are tracked using categories: SCUA, Internship Log, Phases I and II (Semesters).
Second, I interned with the with the Northampton Independent Film Festival (June through November 2007). My first assignment was to set up an archive for film submissions; upon finding no rights agreements, my responsibilities shifted to being the Volunteer Coordinator for the 13th Annual Festival. These entries are tracked using categories: NIFF, Internship Log, Phases I and II (Semesters).
Sporadic entries from the Fall of 2008 to this current Fall of 2009 cover my time in the Simmons College master’s program in Library and Information Science. The GSLIS program has been quite a journey. I will be graduating from the archives management track this Winter and am thrilled at the prospect of finding a more permanent position in the academic archives community.
Biographical:
I live in an apartment in an old dairy barn; it is yellow and white with 100 year old petrified American Chestnut beams. I live with three roommates, Barkley the hound and my amazing cat Harp. Yes. I have a cat. No, I do not knit.
I enjoy print media, driving, yoga, flea markets and french fries. If I could own one piece of property it would be an island.
Here’s what I’ve been listening to while encoding and whatnot http://www.pandora.com/people/dizavore.
Current use:
You will find the most recent entries slightly more personal. Main topics will be my job search, roller derby and other projects post-graduation. Stick around!
Thank you for visiting.
